OUR STORY

Richard McManus founded The Fluency Factory after many years of dreaming and planning. He is committed to serving all types of students, and has passed this passion on to his staff of dedicated tutors.

Our first student at the Fluency Factory was a kindergarten girl who did not know that the school had recommended holding her back. Richard asked how school was going, and she replied, “Well, there are 19 kids in my class. Five are really good readers, and can read, like, chapter books.  Nine are pretty good readers, and can read like, Dr.Seuss. Five of us can't read at all." Troubled by the sadness in her face, Richard and the Fluency Factory staff have made it their mission to help children like her build their skills and confidence. Student success is the best reward for our work at the Fluency Factory and the most important thing we do.

Pam graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1990 with a BS in accounting and then from University of Pennsylvania in 1995 with an MSEd in secondary math education.  She recently retired after 26 years of teaching middle school and high school math in NJ but starting to miss the interaction with high school students. I’m happy to return to tutoring as well as a part time job as a barista. Her hobbies include running, camping, backpacking and travelling in a new “livable” van. I recently returned from 2 months camping in the Canadian Rockies and looking forward to exploring Newfoundland and PEI next!
